Richard, a husband and father living with brain cancer, drives his wheelchair into a pool at a family BBQ. Everyone but his son think that it was suicide from the pain but House will stop at nothing to figure out his true ailment.

Cane and Able

Clancy, a 7 year old boy, who believes he is being tortured by aliens comes to the hospital because of rectal bleeding. When House, who thinks he did not solve his last case and it's affecting him physically, finds a metal object in his neck where Clancy claims a chip has been planted and when a cell with different DNA is found, the team has to give his alien theory more credit. But House's humiliation from his last case and worsening leg pain cause him to back out, forcing Cuddy, who lied to House about curing his last patient, to rethink her decision to withhold the information.

Informed Consent

Ezra Powell, a renowned pioneer in the field of medical research, collapses in his lab. House is struggling after the ketamine treatment wore off and doesn't want to talk about it. When the team put Ezra through rigorous diagnostic tests and don't come up with anything conclusive Ezra demands the team to help him end his life. Now the team goes through twists and turns of the moral dilemma of ignoring his wishes or to assist in his suicide and abide by Ezra's wishes.

Wilson is preparing his 14-year-old patient, Nick, for a bone marrow transplant when the donor, Nick's younger brother Matty, suddenly starts sneezing. Since Nick's immune system has been destroyed by the chemotherapy for his cancer, he cannot risk a marrow donation from Matty while Matty is ill. House decides that the fastest way to find out what's wrong with Matty is to make him worse. As the boys get sicker and sicker, House and his team race to cure Matty before both brothers die. Meanwhile, House battles Hector (his newly adopted dog) for supremacy and Foreman can't stop thinking about last week's mistake.

Resignation

A 19-year-old college student, Addie, starts coughing up blood during karate class and ends up one of House's cases. Foreman hands in his resignation before treating the woman and refuses to explain why. Although her symptoms show no signs of it, House is convinced that an infection is causing Addie's bleeding. Her lungs start filling with fluid and House's team believes a toxin or cancer is to blame for Addie's illness but are unable to change House's mind. When the team takes on the case of Emily, a six-year-old girl who has numerous preexisting health problems, they must work with her mother Elizabeth, who happens to be doctor herself, specializing in her daughter's condition. The team must also deal with the battles raging between Emily's mother and father who have conflicting views on how to handle her health issues. When searching the family's home for clues to Emily's illness, the team realizes that Elizabeth's determination to cure her daughter could be the very thing that is killing her.

Post Mortem

Ein kranker Pathologe, der sein eigenes Gehirn sezieren wollte, besteht darauf, von House persönlich behandelt zu werden. Derweil bietet sich Chase mit dem komplexen Fall des Pathologen eine gute Gelegenheit, aus dem Schatten seines Meisters zu treten – Risikofreude und ein paar Lügen vorausgesetzt.

Holding On

House kämpft mit „der Wut der Verzweiflung“ gegen Wilsons nahenden Tod: Vor allem die Tatsache, dass sein Freund eigenmächtig die Chemo-Behandlung abgebrochen hat, weil er sich nicht länger den damit verbundenen Schmerzen aussetzen will, macht ihm zu schaffen. Doch kein Argument kann Wilson vom Gegenteil überzeugen, was House langsam aber sicher an den Rand des Wahnsinns treibt. Ohne die Chemo bleiben Wilson nur noch sechs Monate. Doch Wilson will das Gift nicht. In seiner Ohnmacht macht House Dinge, die weit über das Erlaubte gehen. Als er erfährt, dass ein junger Patient sich umbringen wollte, geht er zu ihm und würgt ihn. Nur mit Mühe kann sein Team ihn davon abbringen, den Jungen zu ermorden. Er sabotiert die Abflussrohre, so dass sich schließlich ein Schwall von Abwassern, über dem MRT ergießt und damit einen gewaltigen Schaden verursacht. Erst, als Wilson beschließt, die Chemo doch weiterzumachen, findet er wieder zu sich. Beide planen, in der noch bleibenden Zeit, eine Kurzreise in die Berge zu machen. Doch es kommt anders: Foreman taucht in Begleitung eines Anwaltes auf und verkündet House, dass er – aufgrund der Beschädigung des MRTs – wieder ins Gefängnis muss, und zwar für genau sechs Monate.

Everybody Dies

House überlegt intensiv, wie er verhindern kann, dass er vor Wilsons Tod ins Gefängnis muss. Zuerst überredet er Foreman zu einer Falschaussage. Doch als diesem die Sache zu heiß wird, macht Foreman einen Rückzieher. Dann versucht er sein Glück bei Wilson, aber auch der hat keine Lust auf einen Meineid. Doch zufällig bekommt House einen neuen Patienten, der ebenfalls dem Tod geweiht ist. Der erklärt sich bereit, House zu helfen – allerdings nur unter bestimmten Bedingungen. Der unberechenbare Arzt soll den Mann auf seinem letzten Weg begleiten. Das Ganze soll in einem Lagerhaus passieren. Der passenden Atmosphäre geschuldet, brennt bei Houses Ankunft bereits ein Feuer, das jedoch langsam auf das ganze Lagerhaus übergreift. In der Zwischenzeit sind Foreman und Wilson auf der Suche nach House – beide vermuten Schlimmes. Während House sich der tödlichen Lage ergibt, erscheinen ihm einige Personen, die ihn auf seinem Weg durch das Princeton Plainsboro begleitet haben. Aber keiner der geisterhaften Erscheinungen kann ihn dazu überreden, das brennende Haus zu verlassen. In der Zwischenzeit haben Foreman und Wilson endlich Houses Aufenthaltsort herausgefunden. Als sie ihn in dem Gebäude entdecken, sehen sie wie die brennende Decke über House zusammenstürzt. Doch ist House tatsächlich tot?
